Exhibition
Curated as part of Fringe Arts Bath festival, Wilderness Commons invites visitors to explore the role of rituals in imagining alternative ecologies and the evolving relationship between humanity and nature, envisioning flora, fauna, and landscapes as living beings.

Ritual and nature have been deeply interconnected throughout history, reflecting the profound relationship between human societies and their natural environments. From Seasonal celebrations to harvest festivals, animism and healing practices in various cultures, rituals were integral to expressing reverence, gratitude, and a sense of interconnectedness with the natural world.

This exhibition explores what a modern ritual can look like and what alternative ways of meaningful engagement there are, envisioning the living world beyond a passive backdrop for human activity. Through a diverse array of artistic expressions and methodologies, this exhibition aims to open up a dialogue about ways to explore the dynamic relationship between people and the environment we inhabit.
